Inquiry - Friends Group

We come to St Ives to visit friends but we would come anyway as we like the town and it’s the sort of place you hope to stumble across when you are on holiday in the area.  The marina is a unique aspect of the town and we would rent a boat if it was easy and convenient to do so.  If it was well signposted we might have stopped by chance, had tea, had a nice walk.  We like that there are decent pubs, a mix of unique and mainstream shops.  We like that its not congested, my biggest worry when I come to somewhere new is finding parking easily.  It seems quite safe for pedestrians and has a nice market feel, we value the quaintness.  It would be nice to be able to hire a bike and go off into the countryside if there were well marked paths.

In the future, we wouldn’t like to see St Ives lose any of its quaintness, we would enjoy sitting by the river, having a coffee.  Its important that it remains understated and not commercialized.  We would explore the river, park easily, people watch, enjoy seeing boats on the river.  We would like to see riverside walks easily accessible for buggies, milestoned walks, really good tourist info (ours in Congleton has won awards and is really useful for residents and visitors), local history and wildlife.  We would appreciate plenty of childrens play areas and picnic tables by the river.  We think you should make more of the river.  We like the tranquil atmosphere, the non-branded modern convenience.  We like things to do; visit a flour mill and so on.  In the evenings we would enjoy things like a community bbq, or village sports event.  Mainly we enjoy a quiet and relaxed time here, perusing the High St and buying a few knick knacks.
